Pidgirtsi Castle
Operation: year round
Duration: 9 hours
Available in: English, Russian, German, French, Ukrainian, Polish
This tour includes visits to the three beautiful castles in the Lviv region. You will see the oldest Olesko Castle, the eerie and enchanted castle in Pidhirtsy and the pretty well preserved Zolochiv Castle. Built in the 14th – beginning of the 17th centuries, these castles sample Renaissance ensembles of the palace-fortress type. All of them are grounds for the Lviv Art Gallery museum expositions, featuring the most interesting and valuable one in the Olesko Castle. With the castles’ heyday in the times of the Polish King Sobieski John III, all three of them may be considered Polish national monuments; with the neglect in the Soviet time – victims of the Soviet regimen; and with the immense charm they radiate – a must-see in the Lviv region nowadays!
