The Zaporizhian Sich Museum on the Khortytsia Island

Operation: year round
Location: Zaporizhzhya
Included in the following tours:

The Zaporizhian Host takes a special place in the history of Ukraine.
Started as a self-defending power for Ukrainians, it has grown in a threatening military force which could increase in number a couple of times in a matter of days, a cohort of skillful and brave Slavic hero warriors.
They built fortifications downstream the Dnieper River rapids in the 16th century, and have relocated for 8 times within the 200-year history of their existence in the area of nowadays Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson. Cossacks have been basing in difficult to approach areas such as islands and peninsulas, and their citadels were named the Zaporizhian Sich, which literally means: “fortifications made of the chopped wood behind the river rapids”. It is supposed the very first Sich was located on the Mala Khortytsia Island nearby the Kakhovka Reservoir.
The Museum of the Zaporizhian Sich on the Khortytsia Island is not a sample of any Sich that existed in reality but is a reconstruction of the general image of the Zaporizhian Sich. The museum features an open-air exposition of Cossack architecture: church, garrison, house of koshovyi otaman (military leader), Cossack office, treasury, school, cannon armory, blacksmith shop, pottery and shynok (Cossack restaurant).

Hi Igor,
I am back after enjoying the Ukraine trip - safe and sound and really missing the sights of Ukraine.
On the whole, the trip was very good and fantastically organized by your esteemed firm. All the hotel bookings were fine and the Kiev airport pick up / train tickets were nicely arranged.

I want to thank Unipress / you (Igor) for overseeing and planning the minute details.
Also a big thank you for the Visa Support Letter - getting the Visa issued was no problem on my Indian Passport in London.
I enjoyed Kiev and the other cities especially Lvov. Since i missed Odessa and Yalta, maybe next time in future i will plan to see those cities.

Hoping to do business with you in the future.

Do stay in touch.!!!
Many thanks and kind regards,

Rahul Kumar, United Kingdom
